简介:This British Standard specifies requirements for construction andperformance, and describes methods of test, for armoured, fire‑resistantcables with thermosetting insulation and of rated voltage 600/1 000 Vand low emission of smoke and corrosive gases when affected by fire.The circuit integrity performance under fire conditions is assessed onthe basis of various tests which either separately measure resistanceto fire, resistance to fire with water spray, and resistance to fire withmechanical shock (Category F2) or in combination measure resistanceto fire with direct mechanical impact and water jet (Categories F30, F60and F120).Cables specified in this standard are intended for use in fixedinstallations in industrial areas, buildings and similar applications,where maintenance of power supply during a fire is required for adefined period of time.NOTE 1 Attention is drawn to the fact that the ability of a given cableto meet a particular category in this standard refers only to the testconditions stated, and the level of performance achieved in a particularinstallation can be influenced by actual installation conditions.Cables covered by this standard have limited evolution of smoke andcorrosive gases when assessed under the fire conditions as specified inBS EN 61034-2 and BS EN 50267-2-1.In this standard, the level of corrosive (and acid) gases is determinedby measurement of hydrochloric acid (HCl) in accordance withBS EN 50267-2-1.The insulation and other components are suitable to permit operationof the cables at a maximum sustained conductor temperature of 90 °Cand for a maximum short-circuit conductor temperature of 250 °C.NOTE 2 Limitation on the temperature of the cables may be imposed insituations where they may be touched.NOTE 3 Due to the relatively high conductor temperature, there is arisk of drying out the surrounding soil causing an increase in thermalresistivity which in turn would lead to the cable temperature rising toa higher value than anticipated. For cable laid directly in the ground, asuitable de-rating factor should be applied or a lower maximum sustainedconductor operating temperature should be assumed to take into accountthe possible effects of soil drying out.NOTE 4 In installations which include cable joints and terminations, theperformance of these accessories should be taken into account in decidingthe maximum operating temperature of the cable.The cables specified in the standard are either steel wire armoured orinterlocked steel tape armoured and sheathed, as follows:a) two-, three-, four- and five-core stranded copper conductor;b) multicore auxiliary stranded copper conductor.Annex A gives recommendations for the selection and operation ofcables while recommendations for the installation of cables are givenin Annex B. Annex C lists the information that should be given with anenquiry or order.

简介:This British Standard specifies requirements and test methods for theconstruction, dimensions and mechanical and electrical properties ofarmoured cables with thermosetting insulation for rated voltages from3.8/6.6 (7.2) kV up to 19/33 (36) kV inclusive which, when assessed bythe specified tests, produce lower levels of smoke and corrosive gaseson exposure to fire compared to the cables specified in BS 6622. Itcovers cables designed for a maximum continuous conductor operatingtemperature of 90 °C and for a maximum short circuit conductortemperature of 250 °C, for use in fixed installations such as networks orindustrial installations.This British Standard specifies single-core and three-core cables forvoltages in the range 3.8/6.6 (7.2) kV up to 19/33 (36) kV, with:• a stranded copper, stranded aluminium or solid aluminiumconductor or conductors;• cross-linked polyethylene or cross-linked ethylene propylenerubber insulation;• a metallic screening layer of copper wire or copper tape and/or ametallic armour of aluminium or galvanized steel wire;• a thermoplastic oversheath.NOTE Guidance on the selection of cables is given in Annex A.Information to be supplied by the purchaser, and items to be agreedbetween the purchaser and the manufacturer, at the time of enquiryand/or order, are given in Annex B. Recommendations for the installationof cables are given in Annex C. Guidance on the use of cables is given inAnnex D.
